School leaders participated in the 2020 freshmen symposium of the School of Food Science

On the evening of November 4th, the 2020 Freshman Symposium of the School of Food Science and Technology was held in the conference room 102. President Cheng Yudong had a discussion and exchange with representatives of the college's 2020 undergraduates and graduate students. The heads of the Graduate School, the Student Office, the Academic Affairs Office, the Logistics and Infrastructure Management Office, as well as the leaders of the School of Food Science and the freshman counselors attended the meeting. Chen Hui, secretary of the party committee of the college, presided over the meeting.

At the symposium, freshmen representatives exchanged speeches on four aspects: information sources, feelings about entering the university, goal positioning during university, and suggestions to the school. They all expressed their understanding of the school’s educational environment, rich resources, and strong Satisfied with the atmosphere, long history, and excellent teachers, he also put forward opinions and suggestions on the school's management and service measures.

 President Cheng Yudong listened carefully to the speeches and experiences of the freshmen, and expressed great concern about the opinions and suggestions put forward by the students. Combining the spirit of learning from the National Education Conference, the National Conference on Ideological and Political Work in Colleges and Universities, and the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, he encouraged students to establish a correct outlook on the world, life and values, and strengthen the  Self-education, self-service, self-management, self-supervision, make good use of the school's educational resources, allocate time reasonably, and truly use what you have learned to serve the country and the people, and strive to become a pillar of the country. He hoped that under the requirements of normalized management of epidemic prevention and control, students will do a good job in self-health management and jointly maintain a harmonious and stable campus life.

At the meeting, the relevant functional departments responded to the opinions and suggestions put forward by the freshmen based on the actual work of the department.

As a platform for communication between the school and students, the University Life Everybody Talks Freshman Forum aims to enhance the communication and understanding between the school and students and provide students with a better development path. Through the discussion, the freshmen students further strengthened their sense of belonging, trust and identification with the school and the food college, and also more clearly defined their sense of responsibility. The students have expressed their opinions that they must keep in mind the spirit of the school motto of diligence, simplicity and loyalty, study hard, and become the useful talent that the country and society really need!
